Terras Gauda - Rias Baixas, Spain
|
The winery and vineyards both lie in a privileged landscape in the O Rosal valley, close to the mouth of the river Miño in the A Guarda area. The vineyards, which are between 50 and 150 metres above sea level, enjoy an exceptional microclimate characterised by mild temperatures, with an annual average of 15º C, very little frost and abundant rainfall. This microclimate is ideal for ripening, with a high sugar content and a lower acidity level than in other parts of the Rías Baixas designation of origin area that lie further to the north, where the quality of the wine is more variable because of the climate. |

| Terras Gauda is the flagship wine of the winery, and is a clear demonstration of the benefits of a wise mixture of grape varieties. Its prominent personality is the result of a combination of grape musts from the legendary ALBARIÑO variety (approximately 70%) with those of the singular LOUREIRA and CAIÑO BLANCO in the most adequate proportions. | ||

The result is a wine with
an interesting complex mix of aromas, combining white fruits, orange
pips and peel with fresh balsamic notes, supported by subtle floral and
mineral hints. It enters the mouth smoothly, progressing towards a
pleasant, sticky sweetness, accompanied by fresh, bright acidity,
concluding with fleshy finish in the mouth, long and creamy. |
